Hi friends, I’m coming to you this morning feeling a bit off center. After deccompressing a bit with @teamhumble about it, I’m feeling like this is a “This too shall pass” situation, but I think it’s important to share for folks who also reach day 7 not feeling like the happy shiny people they felt like a few days ago.
My alarm went off at 7:30 today and by the time I got to the mat it was about 7:45. I was feeling pressed for time right off the bat because I knew we needed to catch the bus for 9-something.
I also felt a bit rushed in the practice as well, having trouble keeping up between pose transitions, having to modify.. I started to feel discouraged and started to get sloppy. I knew I was reaching injury territory if I kept it up so at about :50 minutes I skipped to the last 20 minutes of cool down.
Haha it’s funny as I’m writing this I’m realizing I only skipped about 10 minutes of this 68 min class. But I felt like I let myself down and started questioning if I should even proceed at the intermediate level for the rest of the challenge.
After we got up and out we chatted about brain chemistry, hormone levels and the quite impressive brain cocktail that’s constantly swirling in our heads that’s really has an effect on our mental state and potential happiness.
Sometimes when you’re exhausted or overwhelmed or feeling emotional the best decision is to defer decision making to a future version of yourself who’s in a better and clearer position to decide for you.
So today that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to enjoy a day out with my mouse, have breakfast and see how I feel tomorrow morning.
I’ve done these things enough times to know they can be a bit of a rollercoaster. Every day can’t feel like there’s lasers shooting out of your eyes and you’re a victorious mystical goddess conquering all those who oppose you.
There’s always tomorrow...
