OK, It's probably abundantly clear by now that I’m not an expert Yogi. I've never been to a 10 day retreat in costa-rica, my instagram isn’t full of me crushing inversions or peak poses on the edge of a cliff and to be honest, I’ve never even been to a proper group class.
But! This is my 4th 30 Day challenge of 2017 and when I’m not doing challenges, I’ve (until very recently) been practicing nearly every day for about 2 years.
I’ve kept my yoga pretty personal and close to my heart because it’s where I take time for me to work out the kinks in my mind and body, where I try to be as honest and vulnerable about who and I am and where I’m at, flaws and all, and I guess in order to keep that feeling like a safe space, I do yoga on my own, just me and the mat.

I struggled in today’s class. I really could have done about 90% of the poses on a good day, but I guess today wasn’t the best day. I’m still recovering physically from the first 5 days, and the pacing of this 30 minute class with Fiji was really quick for me. Yesterday I talked a bit about how this challenge is forcing me to confront my own ego when it comes to my practice.
Could I have done everything in this class to about 99% proficiency while keeping up with the fast transitions between poses?
Sure
Would I have hurt myself?
Almost definitely.
So today I had to take my foot off the gas pedal a bit and either do the modified version of a pose, or (when I had no idea what the modification could be) just hang in forward fold. (Truly, I have the world’s tightest hips and hamstrings.)

Having that argument with myself about how far to push during practice is becoming the real challenge in this 30 days. I’m working on it.
Mega shouts out to @teamhumble who had my desk area set up with my laptop (even plugged in!) sliced strawberries, water and coffee at the ready, when I got back. He even had eggs on deck in the pan! <3

I’m not sure I remember! I remember feeling a bit more warm than these previous days laying there. Shavasana isn’t long in this quick practice, but I do remember working on visualizing wiping a slate clean of expectations I’d have for the way the rest of the week might play out, and really trying to focus on leading with contentment in my heart.
