Well hello there. It’s nearly 4 pm on day 4. I’ve been up since 6, done 12k steps and had about 95 minutes of active time according to my little friend the fitbit, before I decided to take on this 50 minute intermediate class.
It probably sounds like I’m a glutton for punishment, and maybe I am. But if I am, I prefer the term, enthusiastic limit explorer. Yeah, that sounds much better.

I knew today would be hard, starting yoga when I had already had a full physical day, hitting the mat in the late afternoon, without that fresh day morning energy at my back. I even got down to my little spot, got all set up to realize I hadn’t transfered the video of the day to my phone. Duh. Oh Dayle….
So back up I went to sort everything out. In that moment I was really envying those folks who just have to worry about bringing themselves and their mat to a class. It felt like every known force was against me getting this class done today, but here we are!

This class was tough for me physically. I was able to do about 80% without modifying which is pretty incredible considering the kind of yoga I was doing even 6-8 months ago. I’m slowly realizing that taking my time with a ton of beginner level classes was a really good move for me, because now when I encounter a pose I feel I can’t pull off without hurting myself I know exactly the way to modify it to get the intention without the strain my body can't take.
There’s something really cool about pushing a boundary you thought you had physically. The feeling of being completely rung-out afterward is one of the best and most relaxing places you can be. Like the way you feel after a long day at the beach… you feel a little more sorted, more dialed-in more “grounded” to use hippie terms. More like that feeling when you’re driving in the rain and the music syncs perfectly with your windshield wipers.
Or in this case, a gif….
lets say you were to hit play on this...
and watch this…
Yesssss…..
+ Deep thoughts?
Oh man, I was so exhausted that by the time I hit Shavasana I was thinking and not thinking about all kinds of reincarnation scenarios in which I was a rabbit trying to survive the night without getting snatched up by a wolf of eagle or fox, which then led me into thinking about how grateful I am that I’ve never ONCE had to worry about being eaten by a fox in the middle of the night, which led to even more gratefulness about how great it is to be an upper food chain species who gets to have internet and hummus and decentralized currencies. Damn. I really don’t want to waste this incarnation…

Well that’s enough mysticism and exhaustion fueled rambling for today eh? I hope your Day 4 kicked ass, and if you’re still thinking about joining up it’s not too late! Jump on in, the water’s fine! And we’re happy to have you ;)
<3 See you tomorrow friends!
