Afternoon friends! It’s Day 14 of non-stop yoga— Damn, time flies when you're sore as hell! ;)

I really thought today was going to be a drag. I didn’t sleep well and got a pretty crappy nap after about 20 minutes of being “awake” this morning. Mouse is absolutely crushing it at his machine and in the meantime I feel what I can best describe as Universal jet lag. I’m tired, fatigued, sore and spaced out.

However, today’s practice was really quite nice! But in saying that, I really have to believe it was only nice because I allowed it to be nice by being nice to myself…

Let me explain.

@Teamhumble and I have been going through a book called IKIGAI: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life it’s really quite great and I’m sure I’ll be blogging more about it, BUT in the chapter we read last night, it spoke about how the folks who live the longest and happiest lives typically only eat until they are about 80% full. Kind of a concept we’re foreign to in the west, I know we’ve all had parents who wouldn’t let us go play, or leave the table until we “finished our plate”.

SO fast forward to a sore spaced out and cranky Dayleeo on her mat later in the day than she’d like, and being concerned that today’s hour long class taught by the merciless Fiji (not really, her classes are just usually really tough for me and I joke with @teamhumble that she’s trying to kill me) might actually kill her…

Here’s how Fiji opened the class

"Take a moment to pause, and tune out of that external gaze, and open up to the internal gaze. That rare opportunity for us to reflect on what’s taking place inside all of us. This is not just a physical check in, although that is some of the information being exchanged between your body and your mind, It is also an opportunity to notice some of the emotional or mental stress that you may be bringing on to your mat… The shoulders are an area that carries a considerable amount of undue stress, responsibility and worry, so we allow ourselves to drop some of that burden…. You’ve got all that you need for this practice… "

OK Fiji I see you girl.. ;) Maybe she’s not trying to kill me after all.

And so, today I did about 80% of a challenging class that was far above my depth physically. When I felt things gearing up to a handstand, or pose I know isn’t in my practice (for now) I took a little time out and stretched similar muscle groups and met back up when it suited me. It was still a tough hour, but I left the mat feeling lighter, more open and proud of myself for taking a damn chill pill for once.

ALSO, I just have to mention, that when I came back to the van @teamhumble did some SERIOUS work at the pan and scrambled me up eggs, sweet corn and siracha for breakfast. YES. SO MUCH YES..

Of course he didn't forget the coffee and lemon water because he's amazing, and that's just how he rolls-- I am officially crediting this blog and any subsequent victories or accomplishments that today brings, as a direct result of this fire breakfast and the lovely man who made it happen. <3

Maybe the Universe needed to slow me down a bit today— either way, I’m thankful.
