This is the first Christmas I’ve ever been away from family, and though I miss them this time of year, I absolutely LOVE being in the English countryside for Christmas. It’s quiet, there’s nature in every direction and sometimes it feels as though there’s not another soul for miles. -- That “Last Man On Earth” feeling, but in a good way.

In my trips here over the years, I’ve learned a few things:

- If you find a 50P with a rabbit on it, YOU SAVE IT,

- Long Clawson Blue Stilton is God’s gift to the human race,

- And you’re going to need shoes. SERIOUS shoes.

It was hard to give up the idea of wearing running shoes for everything for the rest of my life, I won’t lie. They served me so well walking doggos in NYC for 12 miles a day, 7 days a week, that I never thought I’d need anything else.

BOSSED.

But alas, the sheer amount of precipitation here, along with my particular location in the countryside means walking everywhere, and in every condition. My new shoes which I had bought in October are completely trashed, sure, they’re not meant to be waterproof, but I’ve almost already worn through the soles as well, so, when family back in the states asked me what I could use for Christmas this year I asked them for anything they could kick in toward a pair of proper hiking shoes.

Enter The Merrels.

I was SO stoked to get these, one because I love the way they look, and because I’ve heard nothing but awesome things about Merrels from @teamhumblne since he bought his in September. I know they served him well during our 25k step days in Portugal a few weeks back.

So I decided to take me with you on a little #walkwithme style photo journey on their maiden voyage, as I took a walk to the shop to get supplies in preparation for us to baton down the hatches and close ourselves off from the world over Christmas.

No proper walk is complete without tunes, so I was sure to take my trusty wireless headphones. (Also they're STELLAR for workout and yoga- highly reccomend, I can't stand wires)

Here, we are surrounded by absolutely stunning features of nature, but also, apparently celebration shrapnel!

The shop was utter chaos, as I imagined it would be, but I was able to get in and out relatively easy. Gotta love that chaos energy of folks who are running to pick up last minute wine and cheese for parties! I got my eggs, and a few bits from the discount area and I was GONE!

I'm sure I'll be updating you on these bad boys as I continue to break them in, but I'm super pleased with them so far. They've got support for my arch-less feet and they're warm oh SO warm and waterproof. Exactly what I needed.

Yes, Cozy shoe happiness face!

I hope you enjoyed this little walk with me, shoe edition. You should have seen the looks I was getting in the village from folks, bending down to take photos of my feet every 100 yards -lol

Wherever you are this Holiday, I hope you're warm, cozy, and you're spending time with folks you love...
