Welcome to Laptop Club! We’ll be your lovely hosts for the afternoon. Allow me to re-introduce ourselves. @Teamhumble to my left- The Man The Myth the Mofo, Mr. Internet himself, can be often found behind a keyboard ablaze, blogging and creating like it’s the and of the world as we know it. (and he feels fine btw)
As for myself, I’m @Dayleeo. The So & So, the Miracle-Gro the YOLO. I’m on my third hot beverage of the day and my brain is finally awake enough to make a serious digital dent in the work that needs to be done this cold and rainy Saturday.

We sat down after a spritely walk up a hill who’s gradation would make an Ibex think twice. Actually, I’m just being dramatic, but it was cold and rainy, and my inner housecat who eternally seeks new levels of warms cozys was temporarily miserable.
Two coffees and sandwiches to start, smiles all around the the click clack of both of our keyboards, the occasional giggle or smirk as we are often pleasantly pleased by our own witticisms and sarcastic blockchain musings.
Photos to document the experience, which has become quite the reflex for these two daily bloggers, especially when we are fortunate enough to have a spacial change.
Laptop club is a sacred time of Flat White-Fuled hyperfocus. I remember summer two years ago, we sat at this very same table. I took some of the photos that are still on nomad.pictures to this day, and logged into the virtual assistant platform I used to work remotely for called Fancy Hands.
one of the photos I took summer of 2016 in this very same spot
In a lot of ways, it was exactly what I needed. Fast digital jobs I could pick up as and when. Like transcribing a piece of an audio interview, or editing the formatting on a PDF. I could do them anywhere and in my own time. I remember when I got the confirmation that I had been accepted as a part of their workforce. I was in a coffee shop off 2nd Avenue in Manhattan, between dog walks… I was nearly in tears letting @teamhumble know by video chat.
Less than a week later, I had a plane ticket booked.
You see, steady, location independent work meant I could be with him in the UK without going completely broke. Things were still tight, let me tell you. Those tasks only paid about $3.00 usd for each 20 minutes of work- and some days I only cleared 3 or 4 tasks (and that was on a good day), but we got by, ate noodles and food in the discount section, hours away from the bin. We made it work, and I had never been happier.
Today, I get to be as sarcastic, mystical, analytic, creative and absurd as I like, in this same exact spot just 2 years later, for magic digital money on a blockchain. At of the time of me writing this post, 985 of you support my ridiculous written endeavors to the extent that you’ve clicked a few pixels that spell out the word “follow” and for that, I’m incredibly humbled and grateful.
Spaces are such time machines aren’t they? @teamhumble and I joke that we’re TimeLords all the time but on days like today, I really believe it in both of my two hearts. Experiencing a temporal and spacial displacement grounded by a brie bacon and cranberry panini on a rainy Saturday afternoon sitting across from a human who is so suited for you it’s incomprehensible, in a place you’d never thought you’d be, supporting yourself doing work that didn’t even exist a few months ago? If that doesn’t bring you to your knees humility, I’m not sure what will.
Today this aching body, housing a caffeinated brain and two squishy passionate TimeLord hearts along with ten fingers are all screaming in concert silently. THANK YOU. Thank you to the Universe, to new blockchain friends, for the soup that will be made later, and the funds that provided for all of it.
Today in laptop club, I am thankful to be alive, well, fed and loved. (And the wifi is pretty fast too!)
Wherever you are having laptop, or pc, or cellphone club. I hope this little snapshot finds you well. I hope you take a moment to meditate on the things that you’re thankful for, and that you have a warm beverage close by.
