As you may know @teamhumble and I try to keep things simple. I say try because our ever changing ENTP brain strands, creative projects and ambitions sometimes make things a little complicated, or should I maybe more accurately say, multi-threaded…

Sufjan Stevens - Christmas In The Room - YouTube

Here’s the song I’ve been listening to as I write this to you. It's by one of my favorites Sufjan Stevens. I hope you enjoy it and maybe listen to it while you scroll through this post <3

SO back to threads and strands, Phil’s got the beginnings of an awesome live streaming setup, we’ve converted the shower area into a recording booth for my VO work, we have more outlet expanders and backup batteries to charge and power all our devices than we can count, and although we don’t have much “STUFF” our gear, some clothes, food stocks sometimes alone have us feeling a bit more than cozy.

Not that cozy is a bad thing, but you have to be ever vigilant about the stuff you bring in, and accumulate. We’re always asking ourselves: Is this essential? — Does this bring value to our lives? — Can this perform multiple tasks for us… What effect does buying this have on the planet?

...Enter Christmas

The most EXTRA season of the year. I’m sure you noticed Christmas junk being shoved down your throat about a day or two after Halloween, it’s kind of ridiculous. All in the name of moving product, from their shipping containers from China to your abode, in an almost “Here, it’s your problem now!” transaction meant to provide brief enjoyment for a few weeks TOPS and then it most likely ends up in the bin.

Oh you never asked for this and didn’t ever imagine yourself having it until you saw it in that window display? Yeah well, ’tis the season and ho ho ho. It only comes but once a year, right??

It’s about the hardest time of year to keep the balance between commercialism and overspending and festivity—I mean, we’re not TOTAL grinches!

Our amazon gift pickup from this evening. I can't tell you how greatful and humbled I feel to have been able to give generously to the folks I love this year. It's been a crazy 2017 but a lot of it's highlights were made possible by this incredible community. From the bottom of my heart...Thank you. <3

I admit. I’m pretty extra myself when it comes to Christmas. I LOVE decorating, and cooking special meals and wrapping presents and making treats and making a space feel warm and cozy for the holidays, and for the most part, we already have a lot of that stuff on lock down here in the van. We have string lights hung over our heads as we work, usually something lovely bubbling away in the crock-pot, we even sometimes put a roaring fireplace video on the screen near the bed and have that going as we work or cook. More recently though we’ve been really enjoying, the glow of our Himalayan salt lamp.

smooth round rock + silver nailpolish = christmas decor! yesssss

You may have seen us post about it before, but in case you haven't we love our salt lamp.

Obviously a Christmas tree of really any size is out of the question in this space, and rather wasteful for just a few days, so I jokingly said yesterday…

“Maybe we could find a mini tree topper in town to put on the salt lamp, and we could put all the presents around it in that corner.”

@teamhumble laughed and agreed. Of course the day continued for both of us, we got swept away with work and blogging and logistics and I didn’t think much of it again.

Later that evening, we went on our usual walk down to the shop for supplies. It was dark and there was a misty fog in the air but I noticed a little white blob sitting on someone’s fence. It looked like a ball of fluff, or a missing child’s sock and typically I wouldn’t pay anything like that any attention, but I grabbed it…

Turns out it was a beautiful little knit angel! With wings and sparkly bits woven throughout, she even had a silver-curled ribbon around her neck, and a note which read:

”Please Take Me.”

and on the other side…

”Spread Hope and Love.”

I was shocked! Who could have made this, are there more like her scattered throughout the Midlands?? Normally, I’d assume something like that had fallen out of a shopping bag in the Christmas rush and I’d set it aside for someone re-tracing their steps to find her… but the tag DID say, “Please Take Me”…

So I did! — she was in rough shape when I got her back to the van, her tag was ripped, and she was pretty wet and soggy, with a few dirt smudges on her, so I gently placed her in front of our little heater.

About an hour later I checked on her and to my delight she had made a full recovery, as beautiful as ever, and now she sits atop our now Christmas-salt lamp, in a corner we’ll be filling with little gifts and presents over the next few days.

Now, you can choose to be as mystical (or not), as you like with the facts as I’ve presented them here. Perhaps she was sent from another dimension that had picked up on the frequency of this gal’s Christmas longing to decorate and reflected it back to this Universe. Perhaps there’s a modern day Chris (or Christine) -Kringle out there just looking to make someone smile, or maybe it’s just a glitch in the Matrix, or it was orchestrated by my Truman Show- directors and producers, or maybe it’s a good old fashioned Christmas Miracle!

I’ll let you decide what you think for yourself.

In the mean time, I’ll be enjoying our little Christmas corner, now complete with an Angel. I dont know how she found us but I’m glad she did…
