This morning I broke a personal rule, and found myself scrolling through the news section of Twitter first thing. I was met with news of devastating Hurricanes, and stories of bankruptcy, earthquakes, “China” and of course it’s national Speak Like a Pirate day... so there’s that.

At what other time in human history have we had the opportunity to shoulder the burden of all of our planet’s woes within minutes. To assimilate all of the suffering, and heartache experienced by all of this planet’s lifeforms, human and non in fractions of seconds. It’s too much for me.
And yes, while it is important to stay informed. Information is not knowledge. It’s just a relayed message, in the case of the internet, amplified repeated and projected to a sometimes immeasurable degree. It’s hard to be an empath on the internet. But please don’t mistake data for knowledge.
One of my favorite quotes is:
"Wisdom has been replaced by knowledge and knowledge has been replaced by data.”

Today, let’s all try to get back to what makes us human, instead of relay stations for forces with an agenda that doesn’t even include you. You have the ability to receive sensory input from the outside world but ALSO your inner world. The world of your mind, spirit, and body. You are the physical collision of those data sets. They swirl within you, and your transformative human-species magic turns them into wisdom that’s meant to be shared through whatever expression you choose.
If you feel disillusioned, burnt out and out of sync after spending time on social. It’s ok, you’re meant to. It’s like holding your breath underwater and being frustrated you can’t breathe. We were built as truth and wisdom way-stations, with transfers in every direction.

Not as disconnected backup cloud servers.
I hope this short message finds you well this morning. That you're taking time to defrag the empathy drive, and creating headspace so that you've got room to listen to yourself and what the world around you is telling you. I sure needed to today, and I have a hunch it's going to be a skill that will serve me as life gets faster and the rest of the world comes online.
Remember kids, the best way to fight those AI overlords and "social" algorythms is to not become one of them!
Keep humaning, human!
