Another day another walk in the snow! It hasn't been above 25-30 deg(f) in the past 3 days, which means this snow from the weekend ain't going anywhere!
We knew we'd have to pop our heads out of our warm and cozy den of christmas lights and hot drinks to pick up a package at the shop so we figured around 1pm was a good a time as any.
Unfortunately, the post attendant was on break. So we grabbed lunch and took a nice walk through the local forestry center...
It was cold but absolutely STUNNING.
I need the blockchain to know that I've always had a dream of keeping BEES! SO I was super stoked to see this little hive on site. FUN FACT: even in the dead of winter those little guys keep their home a toasty 92 degrees F by shivering their wing muscles! Go little guys go!
We found a little, covered area and had our lunch and watched as a million kinds of birds fluttered and swooped all around us... it was pretty damn magical..
I'm guessing it was their lunch-time too! It was incredible to watch such life and activity despite it being the dead of winter. It's true what they say, life always finds a way.
Speaking of lunch time, this old boy decided he wasn't going to get left out of lunch either....
See him?? I was a bit confused why he wasn't off hunting birds, there were tons of them! An easy catch for a cat... until I saw this...
Bill Gates once said
"Always hire a lazy person to do a difficult job, because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it."
I guess the same goes for cats!
On our way back we were greeted by Frank the farm dog with his usual fuss of groan-barks as if to say "HEY! I SEE YOUUUU! AKNOWLEDGE MEE!!"
It was just about pre-sunset time when we arrived. Even though my hands and cheeks were frozen I knew I wanted to get a few more shots down by the lake...
And it seems that ol Ma - nature wanted to reward my extra effort!
What started as a quick run out to get a package ended up as an opportunity to take a deep breath and appreciate all the life and beauty that still thrives even in the most unaccommodating temperatures.
Yay!
Thanks Nature!
OK, it's time for me to go do Yoga because the 30 Day Challenge waits for no one!... except I've just had mulled wine... DAMN THIS COZY SEASON! back with an update on how THAT went soon... ;)
