Quick! Before you start, if you'd like to LISTEN to this post instead of reading it, scroll down to the bottom of this post where you'll find a soundcloud player- Thanks for being here!
If you know me, you know that trying a new recipe or food hack, kinda sets me off into ENTP infinite possibilities mode. If youâre and ENTP or youâre close to one. You know these can be exciting and terrifying times, but in the best way.
Cooking makes me feel like a wizard, wielding raw earth elements like fire and water, transforming matter on a molecular level to produce and outcome that can be taken in and appreciated via all of the senses.
I mean, itâs quite possible that in an alternate reality somewhere, humans evolved to just absorb nutrients in the atmosphere via their skin, like some background task. And while maybe Iâd appreciate that mode for the middle of the day work sprint, thereâs just something about enjoying a meal you or a loved one crafted with their hands at the end of the day.
But in addition to consumption, thereâs a facet of becoming a human energy converter, a conduit of transformation and transition for elements that I absolutely love.
I mean, isnât that what everyone loves about the Harry Potter series. A feeling of control and mastery over the matter occupying space around you. The feeling that you could make something totally unique and awe-inspiring for yourself or for another, just with the flick of the whisk- er um⊠I mean wrist! Flick of the wrist! Duh- Weâre talking about MAGIC! Not boring cooking! ;)
Another thing that nutrient absorbing inter-dimensional plant Dayle is also missing out on, is cooking for others! I know this is my Italian side talking but name me a better way to show someone you love them than by using transformative wizard magic to LITERALLY SUSTAIN THEIR LIFE.
IâLL. WAIT.

When you cook for someone, youâre really saying is,
âHey, I thought it would be lame if you died, so I gathered elements from across the realm and crafted a LVL 45 Sustain Potion that I really think youâll enjoy.
Cooking is also community. When you cook with someone youâre sharing a common goal. The âHey, letâs not die togetherâ pact thatâs been practiced for millennia by our ancestor's ancestors.

I like to think of my Dayle-cestors as being the type of tribe to share their meals around a big table, probably talking loudly, and laughing and enjoying wine while speaking with their mouths full. (Also, for some reason Iâm picturing that scene in HOOK where it all ends in a rainbow food fight.)
RUFIO! RUFIO!
I hope my ancestors were like the Lost Boys.
So hereâs when the German side comes in and puts the breaks on things because I also really enjoy eating minimally. In the morning, Iâm trying to get to the machine, and get into work as quickly as possible so smoothie. Bannas, Mango, Leafy Greens. Boom. Done.
For lunch, Iâm not trying to faff with pots and pans. Same thing. Iâve got the very utilitarian approach of sliced cucumber, hummus and Melba crackers or toasted corn tortillas.
I will say however, I do miss the standard @teamhumble English breakfast.

Let me just pause and say, you guys know whatâs UP for breakfasts damn. The English will make you a breakfast like youâre about to work on a railroad in the rain for 36 hours. Itâs the kind of breakfast that youâll want to have a cigarette after while you wait for the whole world (and digestion) to catch back up with your warp 9 enjoyment.
Damn. Thatâs a good breakfast.
But if youâre looking to get anything done for the rest of your day, might be best to limit to the weekends ;)
So what we sayinâ Dayle?
What Iâm saying is- if you only had one shot⊠Wait. No.
What Iâm saying is if you could turn back timeeee... NOPE.
Iâm saying if you could be a wizard⊠wouldnât you!!?
OK maybe wizards arenât your style. Alchemists? Shamans? Mages? Sorcerers? Warlocks? I could really do this all day ... Magicians? Enchanters? Druids?
If any of those have any appeal to you, learn how to cook. And honestly, even if they donât learn how to cook anyway.
Itâs going to come in handy in the apocalypse.
Until Next Time!
