Here we are at the end of 7 days of Gratefulness, and I have to say I'm learning a ton, about myself, my tendencies and the things holding me back, I'm excited that I signed myself up for 4 weeks of meditation!- So then, the first week check in....
* THE PROS *
I’m digging the schedule
Meditating daily is really starting to take hold, the habit of a daily practice is easy to maintain, and I even look forward to it. Since most of the ones in the program have been between 10 and 15 minutes they’re perfect to do for a mid work brain break or right before bed.
It actually is becoming a habit!
I have to admit, that I think about being Grateful much more in my every day. At the most random times, just walking down to the bathrooms, or making our morning smoothies. I’m looking forward to using some of the tricks suggested this week like, journaling, setting a Gratefulness reminder symbol, and even carrying something on me at all times that reminds me to be grateful.
* THE CONS *
The REALNESS is SO REAL.
What I mean by this, is that I was forced to confront. my own selfishness, impatience and LACK of gratitude on DAILY basis. Some days I was distracted. It was hard for me to focus, and on the days that I could focus I had to stare down the stark contrast and reasons why I don't feel the awesome way I did after meditation all the time...

It’s hard being shown the reason you have certain setbacks and frustrations, because more often than not you’ve got no one to blame for them but yourself.
Is that really a con? In my mind NO! Of course my bruised ego might disagree, but any chance I have for self improvement I’ll take. And recognizing where your bad habits lay (and lie) is the first step.
SO WHATS NEXT?
Well I’m not done practicing gratefulness if that’s what you were thinking! Shame on you! I'll be taking these new gratefulness skills, and reminders with me and hopefully they'll start popping up more and more in my day to day! I'm finding that the thing about gratefulness, is it's a bit tough to begin with but once you start, there's this snowball effect that happens, and you cant' help but be grateful for all things, big and small alike. That's been the biggest takeaway so far- and I can't wait to see what's next!
Next week we start focusing on... FOCUS! —see you there!
