So, I have two kinds of notebooks. The one is the “good” notebook. I really like a moleskin when I can grab one on sale, because they’re incredibly built, and they can survive the sustained abuse of a sometimes-scatterbrained ENTP who travels between continents and who is just generally clumsy.
That’s the notebook I use for drawings, deep thoughts after meditation and yoga challenge goals- things I’ll want to look back on and reflect upon. (If you were around in December you saw a ton of this notebook in my yoga challenge posts)
my current "good notebook" was a freebie I got from a giftcard to barnes & noble a few years back, its got foxes in ties on the front...
There’s another kind of notebook in my life. The cheap notebook, It’s usually a bit larger, It’s got thin, easy, tear-away paper and doesn’t even have a hardcover. But for my daily lists, reminders, and sketching out quick designs or jotting down notes while in a meeting- it’s, PERFECT.
It’s MEANT to be as messy as the thoughts in my head. It’s my daily workhorse, bearing the brunt of all that mental chaos and physical clumsiness. I keep it open on my desk when I have the space, and it really helps me get my immediate goals done.
But today I realized what the absolute BEST part of this notebook is.
Every day, I get to turn a new fresh page.
That may seem a bit obvious, but navigating to a blank page in a daily notebook, is the physical manifestation of that new-morning energy that just might set the pace for your day.
I know it does for me… when I allow it to.
Turning that page means that whatever chaos, frustration, or heartbreak that took place the day before is gone. Wiped clean. Not one bit of it has to carry into today if you don’t invite it to.
SO! Turn that page, sync your physical resets, with your hardware ones and your mental ones. Reset the RAM, turn the page, stretch the muscles and pour that cup of hot caffeinated brain activator.
I'm not sure when I started folding used pages like this, but I think fairly young. It's the best way to get straight to where you last left off, without letting previous pages distract you.
Take a moment and allow that blank page to set you free from anything that might hold you back today.
The day is yours.
What will you write first?
<3 Have a great morning friends
