As I write this @teamhumble is putting the finishing touches on a collaboration we thought to do months ago but never got around to until now... I'm super stoked to share this one with you guys....
So around the end of March there was a twitter moment trending about someone who had trained a neural net to create recipes. Here's a sample of what it came up with:
Here's the link to the original post: http://lewisandquark.tumblr.com/post/140219420017/the-silicon-gourmet-training-a-neural-network-to
The creator of this project is a badass Lady-Scientist named @JanelleCShane. You can see her full blog post on her Tumblr LewisAnd Quark (yas girl with that name tho!).
I shared with Phil we both had a good laugh and thought how funny it would be if we made a voice over video to accompany these ridiculous recipes.
As a note, this isn't to bust on Janelle's hard work, the opposite in fact! I think what she's done is incredible frankly. Here's an excerpt from her post about how the neural net learns.
"This is from a network that’s been trained for a relatively long time - starting from a complete unawareness of whether it’s looking at prose or code, English or Spanish, etc, it’s already got a lot of the vocabulary and structure worked out. This is particularly impressive given that it has the memory of a goldfish - it can only analyze 65 characters at a time, so by the time it begins the instructions, the recipe title has already passed out of its memory, and it has to guess what it’s making. It knows, though, to start by browning meat, to cover with plastic wrap before chilling in the refrigerator, and to finish by serving the dish."
I don't know about you, but the idea of one neural net teaching another what humans like to eat, kinda cracks me up, so we came up with *"The Joy Of Molecular Alteration to Produce Nourishment." *I did the VO and Phil really made it come to life with his Gif Wizardry skillz.
(If ya havent checked out his blog, I'd highly suggest it)
Enjoy and have a great weekend everyone!
LOL, I'm still cracking up...
Thanks for stopping by!
