Yes yes, more water, more sleep, more yoga less stress. I’m on it. There’s been a financial deadline looming over the both of us all week and we’ve been putting in long days at the machine every day since Sunday. (Actually might even have been Saturday, I don’t remember)

Today I just couldn’t push at the same pace anymore. I logged a bunch of hours making sure clients were sorted and that their deadlines were met, not to mention juggling the last minute “Hey Dayle!” messages asking me to quick-fix or tweak something the printer had rejected them for, or some other last minute silliness. Of COURSE I'm thankful to have the work, but sometimes stress and urgency are the names of the respective games. Nature of the freelance beast.

I will say, the one thing that always recharges my batteries is some time with a furry friend. So, I thought it might be fun to take a stroll through the ‘Ol Camera Roll and I could introduce you to a few more puppers that I used to walk in NYC. I have them in a dedicated album on my phone and scrolling through their smiling faces really makes me happy. And sometimes ya just gotta do what makes YOU hap

So without any further ado meet… GRACE!

Grace was one of my semi-regulars on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, about 7 blocks from my favorite Starbucks I used to sit in waiting for jobs to come in. See, the service I used, WAG is a lot like Uber so when you get a Ping you’ve got to pack up, throw that coffee back, and head out because there’s likely a doggo in dire need of a potty break!

2 year old English Bulldog Grace, lived at the top of a 4 story walk-up, which in NYC in July, with a 12 lb pack on your back all day, is a bit of a challenge, but I was always rewarded when I reached the top with ALL of the excitement and bounciness you could jam into that little bulldoggo body!

Followed by an immediate invitation for belly rubs…

Grace was an absolute Bull(dog) in a china shop. Absolutely NO bodily awareness of how strong or excited she could get, so I always had to watch my step navigating us both down the stairs. Because when a girl’s gotta go, a girl’s gotta go!

However, as with most short-nosed and stocky breeds, Grace didn’t have much in the stamina department. After a potty break, and a lap around the neighborhood she was usually DONE. Looking up at me while we walked, like, “Ummm Hiee I’m finished walking now!”

There’s no denying that tongue. And it’s SO so important to be watching for signs of overheating on those hot summer days, so we’d park-it on a bench near by, and I’d make sure to catch her up on loves, hugs, and scratches that she was missing while her people were at work.

Pets and behind-the-ear scratches are important business, but Grace always indulged me a bit of silliness as well. ;)

Here's to you Grace,
The girl with the smile that's still recharging my batteries, all this time and all these miles away.

And to YOU, thank you for stopping by! I hope this Wednesday is being kind to you, remember to take a bit of time out and if you're lucky enough to be near a furry friend give them some loves too!
