I was 4, but I remember it like it was yesterday. More than anything I remember feeling his/her skin. This tough leathery dense texture. Being up close to a being that massive and magnificent really impacted me, and ever since, I've always had a soft spot for elephants...
So when thinking about what to tattoo this week, I put out a poll on twitter, the results were clear...
My first reaction was damnit... how the hell am I going to pull this off, but I worked from a reference image and tried this technique of ver lightly sketching out the main shapes before filling in and adding details and I'm pretty happy with the result. Also this is the first time I've been able to do those little vine-y leaves you can see on my fingers. - Pretty cool to see progress from week to week!
